Hand-drawn, as promised.

Trying out Corel Painter. Still a bit wobbly, but it seems promising:

Generic comic guy, slightly spiky hair, yelling in a somewhat bothered fashion.

(Not any particular character or person, just a random sketch.)

A day in the life of living with cats, paraphrased:

Bella jumps up into my lap.
Bella: Hi there! Whatcha doin'?
Me: Er, well actually I'm trying to draw. See, look at th-
Bella: What's that?
Me: It's a drawing tablet, and I'd appreciate it if you didn'-
Bella: Ooh, shiny! I'm-a roll around on it now, 'kay?
Me: No, no, that's...you don't have to do that.
Bella: What's this button do?
Me: Well, it..wait, why am I explaining this to you? Look, get off my lap. I'm trying to work.
Bella: You don't look like you're working! You should relax. Look at me relax, I'm a great relaxer. Here, watch me recline all over your laptop and your wrists at the same time.
Me: Bella, NOT NOW.

I pick up Bella and set her down on the floor.
Bella: You're mean!
Bella stomps off to sulk.

I go back to drawing.

Two seconds elapse.

Bella jumps up and perches on the television set.
Bella: Look at me, I'm on TV!

Whiteboard ramblings.

This is the face of boredom at work:

Whiteboard drawing in black, green, and red marker of the head portion of The Son of Man by Magritte

In other, more disappointing news, I have also had the following up on my whiteboard for 1-2 months and so far nobody has gotten either:

Whiteboard text: BAD WOLF

Whiteboard text: VOTE SAXON

But I ramble.

There is something still marvelous about the mornings I wake up to seagull noises outside my window. Maybe I'm too easily amused, having grown up in a land-locked state. Or maybe it's just because I then find myself wondering what the heck those seagulls are doing here when the water's over a mile away. Looking for food scraps at Dick's, I guess.

Also, I finally got off my figurative cartoonist butt and added transcriptions for all the comics that were still missing them - comics #2 through #24. It should now be possible to read through the entire comic archive as text. And once Google catches up, it should also be possible to search through the entire comic archive.

Sometimes, on a rare occasion, I actually feel compelled to sketch out a rough draft of a strip before laying out the vectors. The weird thing is, sometimes I unexpectedly end up with sketchy bits I actually quite like:

Sketch version of Brainley; glasses are only circles. He is at a slight angle and he is smirking and wagging his eyebrows.

Pudding Hijinx!

So I have had this carton of hazelnut milk sitting unloved in my fridge for a while now. I had originally bought it hoping it'd be richer-tasting than soy or rice milk, but it turned out to taste too much like hazelnut to be any good over cereal.

I also have several packets of chocolate pudding mix I inherited from [info]adularia that were originally bought for her canoe trip.

Perhaps you can see where this is going.

So, in the name of SCIENCE, I decided to mix up a batch of chocolate-and-hazelnut-milk pudding, just to see what would happen. The result: a bit gritty, but tasty!

That's right folks: I think I've invented nutella pudding. Vegan nutella pudding.

(Also, instant pudding is weird. It set thick almost as soon as I started whisking it. Corn starch truly is an amazing thing.)
